Microfleece 220 has a number of advantages over
polypropylene, the best known of the thermal fabrics.
Microfleece 220 is made from polyester microfibres, is extremely
light, dries very quickly, is very soft and quiet, and won't
irritate the skin. In addition to these features, the style
and cut provides a tighter fitting garment to keep the warmth
closer to the skin.
Microfleece 220 is warmer than the same weight in polypropylene
and is significantly more effective in preventing wind chill.
However, most importantly it absorbs very little water (less
than 1%) and it has very good wicking ability it is ideal as
a layer to keep your body dry. Remember that damp garments
will take heat away from your body through evaporation and wind
chill factor. Microfleece 220 provides the best primary clothing
layer.
